Inclement Weather Policy

When Fairfax County Government Offices are closed, MVLE offices will be closed for all employees (staff and individuals).

When Fairfax County Public Schools are closed, MVLE offices will remain open for all essential staff, but will not serve individuals.

Essential staff is defined as those who hold exempt employee status (e.g.,Vice Presidents, Directors, Assistant Directors, Site Managers, Area Managers, Senior Team Members, etc).

FASTRAN's procedure is based on Fairfax County Public Schools. If Fairfax County Public Schools are closed, FASTRAN does not operate.

When Fairfax County Public Schools are closed and MVLE is not serving the individuals, all non-exempt employees have the option to take annual leave or leave without pay unless they choose to come to work.

Employees must report off by speaking directly to their immediate supervisor. Voice mail messages can be left, but it is the responsibility of the employee to speak directly to his/her immediate supervisor when reporting off due to inclement weather.

Reporting off via e-mail during inclement weather is unacceptable.

When there is a 2-hour delay for Fairfax County Public Schools or any other school districts in which our individuals live that means staff arrives at work on time (8:00 a.m.) and the individuals will be arriving 2 hours later.
